Thometz To Compete At IBJJF Worlds

Combat Fitness/SBG Idaho head BJJ trainer, Scott Thometz, will be competing at the IBJJF World Jiu-Jitsu Championships this Saturday, May 30th, at Long Beach State University in Long Beach, California.

Thometz will be competing in the lightweight division in a bracket with 60 other brown belts from around the world.

Scott will be competing on Mat 7, Saturday, May 30 at 9am. He will be the fifth match on that mat, taking on James Nival (Gracie Humaita – Las Vegas). For the complete order of events, check out http://events.ibjjf.com/sportos/application/orderfight/index.php?idevent=319&dayofevent=1.

Brock To Headline RFA in Boise

The state of Idaho will host its first nationally televised MMA event on July 3, when Resurrection Fighting Alliance comes to Boise’s CenturyLink Arena. Headlining the card will be a bout between Combat Fitness/SBG Idaho’s Jesse Brock (20-8) and Southern California’s Joe Murphy (8-2). The event will also be co-promoted by Boise-based Front Street Fights and will feature several other local standouts.

This is a huge event for for not only Brock, but the entire Idaho MMA community!!!

Skinner Earns Double Silver At Subleague

Combat Fitness/SBG Idaho’s Logan Skinner competed in Subleague Qualifier 2, this past Saturday, May 16th, at Liberty High School in Hillsboro, Oregon. Logan earned silver in both the Adult Purple Belt featherweight division and Adult Advanced No-Gi featherweight division.

Buddy Week Begins Monday

Combat Fitness/SBG Idaho will be having its first ever Buddy Week, beginning May 25 and running until May 29! If you have a friend interested in training, bring them in for free all week. For each new friend brought in, you will be entered into a drawing for prizes. First prize is an IPad, second prize is a $50 Visa Giftcard, and third prize is a pair of movie tickets! The drawing for all the prizes will be held Wednesday, June 3.

Brock Signs RFA Multi-Fight Deal

Combat Fitness/SBG Idaho trainer and athlete, Jesse Brock (20-8), recently signed a multi-fight deal with Resurrection Fighting Alliance. Brock joins teammate, and unbeaten fellow bantamweight Ricky Steele (3-0), as the second CF/SBG Idaho athlete on the RFA roster.

Founded in 2011 and based in Las Vegas, Nevada, RFA serves as a developmental organization for fighters looking to join the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). RFA has a long-term television deal in place with AXS TV and provides RFA fighters with the opportunity to showcase their skills and gain the experience needed to fight at the highest level of the sport. Led by an experienced executive team of industry professionals, RFA will present up to six live events this year and up to 10 fights in 2015 around the United States.

No details have been released at this time regarding Brock’s first bout with the organization.

“El Gato” Set For Real MMA In June

With his fight in Wyoming falling through, Jordan “El Gato” Ransom (2-2) looks to not let his training be wasted, quickly securing himself a fight at Real MMA, June 19. He is now set to face Devan Govatos (3-0) at the Silverton Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. This amateur bout will be contested at lightweight (155 lb).
