Brandon Hempleman picked up a big win Saturday night at World Series of Fighting 12, posting a unanimous decision over former Olympic wrestling bronze medalist, Alexis Vila!!!

The bout was contested entirely on the feet, as Hempleman was able to avoid all of Vila’s takedown attempts. Hempleman made good use of his jab throughout the fight, keeping Vila off balance and out of takedown range while peppering him with kicks to the inside and outside of his lead leg. Hempleman was also able to land numerous solid right crosses and uppercuts. Vila had his moments in the fight, landing several looping overhand rights and left hooks. But in the end, Hempleman’s higher workrate and more diverse striking arsenal carried him to victory.

Matt May Victorious In Return To Kickboxing

MM

Matt May made his return to kickboxing yesterday, after a 7 year hiatus, picking up a convincing unanimous decision win over a tough Patrick Reeves Saturday night at Total Mayhem in Ogden, UT.

It was not all smooth sailing however, as Reeves landed a hard shot at the end of the first that backed Matt off and forced him to regroup. But Matt was able to recover and over the course of the final three rounds battered and out worked Reeves to take the clear cut decision.

UFC-177-poster-Dillashaw-vs-Barao

Our own Scott Jorgensen will compete next at UFC 177, August 30. Scott will be welcoming 2008 Olympic Freestyle Wrestling gold medalist Henry Cejudo to the Octagon.

After claiming gold at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, Cejudo retired from competition before an attempted comeback in 2012 for the London Olympics. When he was unsuccessful in his attempt for a second Olympic gold, Cejudo made the transition to MMA where he has compiled a record of 6-0.

A veteran of nearly 30 MMA bouts, with 19 of them under the Zuffa banner. Jorgensen (15-9) last competed in June, scoring a unanimous decision victory over Danny Martinez and earning “Fight of the Night” honors.

UFC 177 comes to you from Sleep Train Arena in Sacramento, CA. This will be an exciting fight and a great victory for Scott!
