Scott Smalley

[Muay Thai]

I became interested in martial arts at a young age and began training at a Tae Kwon Do Academy when I was five, and again at the age of 10. At the time, the lack of full contact training, kept it from truly capturing my attention. Many years later, I saw Anderson Silva knock out Rich Franklin with a gnarly head kick and it piqued my interest again. In 2010 I began training much more seriously with a group of like-minded friends. I became obsessed with learning all facets of striking and grappling and discovering the best way to connect them together. This naturally led me to Combat Fitness, where the extensiveness of my training deepened even further, and my skills and understanding of self defense and the sport of MMA grew rapidly.

I now hold the rank of blue belt in BJJ from Scott Thometz and assist in teaching the Muay Thai classes. Teaching has been a very rewarding experience for me, as it increases my own knowledge and allows me to help others developed both mentally and physically, gain true confidence in their ability to defend themselves, and live a healthy lifestyle.
